Helping the Altallis family make Canada home!

The Altallis, a family of Syrian refugees sponsored by the Anglican Parish of March, has recently arrived in Canada and is settling into a new home in Kanata. They are supported by the Kanata Syrian Refugee Sponsorship Committee and a large group of volunteers from the ‘Valley’.

To raise funds for support of the family, a benefit concert will be held in Carp at St. James Anglican Church (next to the Fair Grounds) on Friday June 3rd at 7:30pm.The music will be toe-tapping ragtime jazz played by the Northwinds Brass quintet, a group of professional and accomplished brass players. Also Stephen Leacock stories will recounted, without scripts, by the well known Ottawa Story Tellers. To honor the Syrian refugee family, complementary Syrian desserts will be served at the concert intermission.

Tickets cost $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and students, and $10 for children 12 and under. Tickets can be bought at the door while supplies last, or in advance by calling Huntley Parish office at 613-839-3195. For those unable to attend who wish to make a donation, please send it to St. John’s Anglican Church, South March. A tax receipt will be given for donations of $20 or more if donor name and address is supplied.
