Living at Home for as Long as Possible
A special seniors information session
hosted by the Anglican Parish of Huntley

The Anglican Parish of Huntley is hosting a special gathering on Saturday, November 21st from 10am – Noon for all seniors in the Carp area. The event will take place at the Anglican Parish Hall (3774 Carp Road)

The aim of this gathering is to talk about the tools and resources available for seniors in the Carp area that aim to enable them to live at home for as long as possible as they age.

Presentation topics will include preventative health and nutrition, programs and services available from local organizations, and respite care programs. The Reverend Monique Stone will also lead a conversation with the attendees on what is missing in the Carp area that might assist seniors as they age in their community.

This session will include presentations from the Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre, West Carleton Community Health Team, Chartwell Retirement Residences and the Anglican Parish of Huntley.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a friend or family member who helps them in their day-to-day planning and organizing (i.e. someone who helps arrange for drives to doctors, shopping, planning of medical decisions, etc.).

The Reverend Monique Stone commented; “We know that there are many seniors who want to continue to live in the community that they love for as long as possible. The parish decided to host this event to try to help connect seniors with the tools and resources that they can access to make sure they are able to remain their homes in a healthy and safe manner for as many years as they can”.

The session is FREE to all who want to attend but seating is limited. Please call the parish office at 613-839-3195 or register below.

Coffee, tea and a light snack will be provided and each attendee will receive a take-home package with information on the tools and resources available to seniors in the community.
